QMPMA Challenge reminder and upcoming Member guides

QMPMA Challenge:

We wanted to remind members that although the vote has concluded, the FPSLREB will not count the ballots until a decision is rendered in the QMPMA Charter Challenge. At present, the NPF, the RCMP nor QMPMA know the results nor the voter turnout.

Closing arguments for that hearing are scheduled for March 26-27, 2019 and we will update further as that concludes. The FPSLREB has retained the right to render an oral decision at the conclusion of the hearing, however we expect a week or more for them to publish a decision.

Upcoming Member guides:

The NPF is in the process of drafting guides for members on several topics such as:

  • Code of Conduct investigations (Part IV RCMP Act);
  • Public Complaints (Part VII RCMP Act);
  • Duty to Accommodate;
  • Civil Litigation;
  • Statutory investigations (on and off duty, IIO, ASIRT, IIU civilian oversight etc).

These will detail a member’s rights and responsibilities, as well as some strategy and procedure to expect through each process. Stay tuned as these develop and are released over the next few months.

In the meantime, here are three other things you can do to help.
